Antiquing in Geronimo

One of my hobbies is described in the phrase "one man's junk is another man's treasure."
I love to fix, refinish, strip paint, paint, sand, hammer, drill, measure, screw, saw, build.
And one of the best places to go to find things that need a little face lift is antique shops. So today Joshua sent me out for the afternoon to Geronimo. It's a little town just outside of Seguin, about 6 miles approximately. My favorite shop was Elise's Attic, it had my mind dreaming of all the fun things I could transform from all the junk they had. So many possibilities and not enough garage space. :)

Glory B's was a fun little shop but not enough junk to leave to the imagination, too much froufrou for me.

This was the largest by far of all the shops but the only problem with this mall is that you want to find things that others don't know are treasures. If you go to a place where others know their junk is a treasure then you can't afford to buy it. :)

I didn't get to stop by this place because my 2 hour mark was coming to a close. I will catch it next time and maybe one of my girl friends might like to come along. :)

Have I made it clear that I want you to come visit?

Here are some pictures I took today to give you an idea of the beautiful surroundings of our town. The Texas sky was gorgeous today with a crystal blue background and white pillow clouds.

Texas Monthly

Texas Monthly rated San Antonio as the number one spot in Texas for a weekend getaway and gave some great ideas of places to visit. So, for all our friends who are thinking about visiting and would like to take us up on our offer for us to watch your little ones for the night here are a few helpful ideas.

Romance on the River

Location: San Antonio

What You’ll Need: Significant Other

"My husband and I have an annual tradition of going to San Antonio for the weekend—away from errands, our toddler, and everything else that keeps us too busy when we’re at home. It’s easy and inexpensive enough that even a short visit to the Alamo City feels like a mini-honeymoon. The perfect hotel for our getaway is the Havana Riverwalk Inn, which is situated on a secluded stretch of the River Walk. We love the four-poster canopy beds, vintage furniture, and eccentric twenties colonial theme..." You can read the rest of the article on the Texas Monthly site.

The Havana Riverwalk Inn

Japanese Tea Gardens with footbridges, koi ponds and a 60 foot waterfall.

Paloma Blanca where the Mexican dishes are first rate.

McNay Art Museum has a private collection of of Old World and contemporary art with serene grounds.

Daddy's Home!

Joshua pulled in at 5 pm this evening. After driving 12 hours a day for 2 days he is pretty tired. So with some Chipotle, a hot shower and a bed, he will be a new man by morning. Thank you for praying for our family as we traveled. We are grateful that everything went well and that we are together once more. Love to all - Jordan Family

Grace in Flight

Noah chilling in the terminal

God answered our prayers by giving us a peaceful trip with the sprouts even though things did not go as planned. We thought our timeline for our trip was going to be arriving at the airport at 3pm, board our plane at 4:45 and then take off at 5:13 and be home and in bed by 10pm. What actually happened was arrive at the airport at 3pm, severe thunderstorm at 5pm, board at 7pm, sit on tarmac until take off at 9:30pm. 3 and a half hours later arrive at DFW and then at home and in bed by 3:30am. :o Even with all the delays from the storms there were no meltdowns, outbursts of anger or crying. WOW!

Lizzy Grace was dreaming sweet the entire flight and Sydney and Noah were content to color, watch movies and sleep. What kindness from God that my sprouts would supernaturally have a wonderful time during this very long trip.

Goodbye Maryland Hello Texas

So long Maryland, with your cold winter and your rainy spring. Hello Texas hot 100 temperatures and humidity that makes your skin shine. Where you can play outdoors year round unless there's a tornado spinning by.

For those of you who are not native Texans, Seguin is 38 miles east of San Antonio (our new home).

Please pray for safe travels on plane and by car.
The sprouts and I leave by plane tonight and Joshua leaves by car on Wednesday morning.
Lord willing we should all be back in the great state of Texas by Friday.
