Pape Pecan House

I took the sprouts on our first field trip in Seguin to Pape's Pecan House.
They ship out hundreds of thousands of pounds of pecans every year from this tiny little shop.
With a nutcracker museum and with the hopes of finding a new favorite treat from this unique shop the sprouts and I were ready for the trip.

I loved the signs in the window that say "Please drive slowly, our squirrels don't know one nut from another." and " Welcome to the nut house."

The entrance is behind the rather large squirrel.

Apparently it was a little too bright outside for the sprouts.
Check out that sound structure of the bench. :)

So many fun goodies in this shop that it made it hard to choose what to purchase this time around. From local honey that looked the color of molasses (the color I found out is determined by the type of flowers the bees pollinate from) to honey butter and a variety of nuts, pecan oil, jams, jellies and salsas.

We ended up trying the blueberry nut honey butter (a new favorite) and the Texas Wild salsa. As you can see by the jar of salsa it was a big hit!

Joshua and I are going to treat all of our guests that come stay for a visit with some goodies from our home grown store. That's a promise!

I've lived here 25 years and never once been in that store. Thanks for the tour:o)
