Union Station

Welcome to Union Station
Joshua took me here for a date night to get us out of our normal area of Gaithersburg.
We rode the metro to Union station which was a relaxing 40 minute ride. We loved the train ride because our date started during the commute instead of having to wait till we got to the destination. We were able to sit and talk and not worry about fighting through traffic.
Union station is a little surprising when you walk in. It has a mall, several restaurants and movie theater not to mention beautiful architecture. Not exactly what you would expect from a train station.

The architecture is gorgeous inside and out.

Statues of knights surround the main hall of the station that are
magnificent in detail.

The main hall clock with the knights standing guard.

This is a wonderful restaurant with a delicious menu. Joshua ordered the best buffalo chicken quesadillas and I ordered a hamburger which I had been craving all day. But after seeing his dinner I struggled with quesadilla envy for the remainder of the meal. Joshua was kind enough to take pity on his pregnant wife and share his dinner. Thank you Honey!

This was the view from our table at dinner.
It was so much fun sitting at our table having a relaxing dinner talking and watching people in the busyness of life and being glad that we were not having to join them at the moment.

We ended the night with 2 delicious cannoli that we picked up at a little Italian pastry shop on the bottom floor of the station. A cannoli is an Italian pastry in the form of a hard tubular shell filled with sweetened ricotta cheese and it often contains nuts, citron, or chocolate bits. Our shell was dipped in chocolate and the cream filling had chocolate bits in it. At the time we were both ignorant to what the filling was (checked Internet when we got home) and to Joshua's dismay at finding out that it was blended up ricotta cheese in which he hates has made his stomach turn a few times. We kept eating it trying to figure out what it was not ever really liking the cream except for the chocolate chips in it. O well, you live and learn not to eat things that don't sit well with your taste buds. You end up regretting it later, sorry Honey.
Thank you Joshua for blessing me with a special date night out.

What a great date! I am jealous...we never made it to Union Station last year. Looks like a really neat place!
Miss you!
